07 August 2026: AbbVie’s Elahere receives Minzdrav approval in Russia for Ovarian, Fallopian tube and Peritoneal cancer

  • AbbVie’s ELAHERE has been approved in Russia for the treatment of epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancers, marking the first approval in the country for an oncology medicine containing Mirvetuximab soravtansine
  • The approval is supported by significant improvements in progression-free and overall survival versus chemotherapy in patients with FRα-positive, platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, supporting its use in ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancers
  • The approval addresses a major unmet need in ovarian cancer, particularly for patients with platinum-resistant disease, where treatment options remain limited and outcomes generally worsen with successive lines of therapy
  • ELAHERE is a first-in-class FRα-directed ADC comprising a folate receptor alpha-binding antibody, a cleavable linker and the DM4 maytansinoid payload, enabling targeted delivery of a potent tubulin inhibitor to FRα-expressing tumor cells
  • Strategically, the Russian approval expands AbbVie’s geographic reach for ELAHERE and further strengthens its position in the FRα-directed ADC landscape, following approvals in the U.S. and EU for FRα-positive platinum-resistant ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancers
