08 June 2026: Johnson & Johnson to acquire Firefly Bio to expand oncology pipeline with degrader ADC platform
Johnson & Johnson has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Firefly Bio for $1 billion in cash, expanding its oncology pipeline with Firefly’s proprietary Firelink degrader antibody conjugate (DAC) platform and strengthening its focus on hard-to-treat solid tumors
The acquisition is designed to enhance Johnson & Johnson’s capabilities in targeting pan-KRAS and other key oncogenic drivers, an area of significant unmet need where patients often face limited treatment options and poor survival outcomes
Firefly’s Firelink platform represents a novel degrader antibody conjugate approach that combines the targeting precision of antibody-based therapies with selective protein degradation, enabling the delivery of degrader payloads directly to tumor cells while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues
The platform is initially focused on KRAS-driven cancers, a historically challenging target in oncology, and adds a portfolio of preclinical candidates that complement Johnson & Johnson’s existing expertise in antibody engineering, ADCs, and other next-generation targeted therapeutic modalities
Strategically, the acquisition positions Johnson & Johnson at the forefront of the emerging degrader antibody conjugate field, diversifying its oncology pipeline beyond conventional ADCs and strengthening its long-term ambition to develop precision medicines for some of the most prevalent and difficult-to-treat solid tumors
